The duo have spent a collective 30 years working in fancy-pants restaurants & bougy wine stores between Europe and Australia. This amount of exposure to how we handle wine made the problems inescapable in their minds.

Rahel Goldmann

Rahel grew up in culture-capital Berlin, starting her foray in to the world of drinking-fluids through speciality coffee.

Rahel grew up in culture-capital Berlin, starting her foray in to the world of drinking-fluids through speciality coffee. What was supposed to be a job to pay the bills lead to a path of exploration of the heights of coffee and service. In her rise to barista stardom her focus zeroed in on sustainable and ethical approaches to an industry that at times could lead to considerable environmental damage and human exploitation.
The pursuit of these goals brought her to span the Hospitality industry, leading Rahel to encompass restaurants into her career. From this step came Rahel working across 4 hemispheres, the North & South and the Floor & Kitchen. Working out front representing the world of wine and out back wrapping her mind around the produce practices and possibilities of the Southern Continent.

Ron Davis

Ron came up in quiet, regional NSW. Stepping first into kitchens when still at School, then ditching the books to be with the cooks.

Ron came up in quiet, regional NSW. Stepping first into kitchens when still at School, then ditching the books to be with the cooks. After his time as an apprentice, he took what was supposed to be a break from the kitchen to move on to the floor for a year, after a matter of months working with wine and growing to understand what service truly was, he realised he was never going back.
Having spent a few years in the restaurants of the Southern Highlands and exploring the local scene, he then headed up to Sydney to chase the Somme life. He used his time in Sydney restaurants forging a detailed understanding of the wines that have shaped the New & Old World alike.
Ron’s next move, into wine retail, brought greater exposure to winemakers and the retail work/life balance meant more time to spend in the growing regions. From this the understanding of sustainable viticulture formed and led to an undying interest in Organic & Biodynamic farming and how to promote these practices in the consumer market.

Goya was born in a sleepy regional Victorian country town called Waterloo. As a Kelpie x Border Collie, his assigned purpose in life was to work on a farm - but the doggie gods had different plans for him

Goya was born in a sleepy regional Victorian country town called Waterloo. As a Kelpie x Border Collie, his assigned purpose in life was to work on a farm - but the doggie gods had different plans for him:
Not long after Goya met Rahel & Ron, he decided to pursue a part-time career as a cleaner. He is specialised in cleaning the kitchen and doing dishes, and as long as he can do it with his tongue, he’s a happy pup. Goya’s google reviews are unfortunately only at a 2.5 star rating, as he seems to leave hair wherever he goes.

His hobbies are:

Chasing leafs in the wind

Sniffing butts

Goya plays an integral role in the existence of Glou and we couldn't be more excited to have him on board as our official shop dog!
